Wounds¶
Basics
When a creature suffers damage that exceeds its Wound Treshold (WT), it receives one wound per exceedance. When the total number of sustained wounds reaches the creature’s Wound Limit (WL), it becomes unconscious.
Examples (for WT 10):
- The creature takes 8 damage. It gains no wound.
- The creature takes 14 damage. It gains one wound.
- The creature takes 21 damage. It gains two wounds.
- The creature takes 10 damage. It gains no wound.
If, after receiving a wound, the creature’s total wounds exceed half of its WL, it must make a CON Save against [total sustained wounds] * 2. On a failure, the creature becomes unconscious.
If a creature suffers more than one wound from a single attack, it must make a Wound Check for each wound after the first.
For creatures with the Colossus tag, the Save difficulty is only [total sustained wounds] * 1.
Wound Check
A Wound Check determines a wound’s severity. Roll a simple 1d20. On 10 or higher, the wound counts as light. On 9 or lower, it counts as severe. Wound Checks automatically fail if that specific attack has already inflicted two wounds.
Execution
If a creature has already reached its WL, every additional wound converts one light wound into a severe wound.
Healing
Light Wounds
To heal a light wound, healing points from spells or items (e.g., healing potions) must exceed the Wound Treshold (WT). Each exceedance of WT heals one wound.
Severe Wounds
Severe wounds can only be healed outside combat via specialized rituals or equipment, typically requiring a Medicine check. The status effect Regeneration has no effect on severe wounds.
Medicine Checks
A Medicine check is usually Difficulty 20. This value is eased by the wounded creature’s CON-MOD and by the healer’s Medicine skill value. On success, one wound—light or severe—is healed.
For exceptionally complicated wounds, the GM may hinder the check at their discretion.
**When healing a light wound, the healer gains Advantage 1 if they possess the Medicine skill.
Unconsciousness
See also: Unconscious
An unconscious creature cannot take actions or reactions and counts as Prone. Attack Actions against an unconscious creature automatically hit. All Saves (except CON Saves) automatically fail.
If the total number of wounds on an unconscious creature is below its WL, it may, at the start of its turn and when taking damage or receiving healing, attempt a CON Save against 10, hindered by [total sustained wounds * 2]. On a success, the creature is no longer unconscious.
For creatures with the Colossus tag, the Save is only hindered by [total sustained wounds * 1].*
