Skill Points¶
What are Skill Points?
Skill Points (SP) are used to buy classes, perks, proficiencies, skills and spells for a character. They are just as important as Attributes and perhaps even more so given just how powerful proficiency increases and additional abilities can be.
How do I gain Skill Points?
The easiest way to gain SP is to simply level up. Each level grants the user 5 SP flat, and some attribute perks grant additional SP.
Other than that, the DM may choose to grant SP for quest completions or particularly impressive feats.
How do I spend Skill Points?
Classes, Spells, Skills, and base Proficiencies
Classes, Spells, Skills, and base Proficiencies have a flat, one-time SP purchase cost specified either in their description or at the start of the page.
Proficiency Values
Proficiency Values are raised just like Attributes, meaning an increase costs as much as the target amount. Raising a Proficiency Value from 0 to 1 costs 1 SP, raising it from 3 to 4 costs 4 SP,, and raising it from 0 to 4 in one go would cost 10 SP.
NPC building
Since it is logistically unreasonable to come up with specific feats for each NPC, they gain 10 bonus SP every five levels, meaning that a generic level 15 NPC will have access to 30 SP more than what their level and attributes would otherwise afford them.
This does not necessarily apply to named NPCs, who may get significantly more "achievement SP" than their generic counterparts to increase the challenge they pose in battle.
